My guess is that you probably want to keep that anchor for a while and thus are playing with thirteen checkers. So the greater flexibility gained from playing from the bigger stack becomes more important. Also with the anchor the agressive slotting of the missing 4 and 5 point are more attractive so less need to make the better 5 point immediately.
