In this position running becomes important for the opponent and C must be bad, because it allows running with tempo hit without much counterhit chances after this because the opponent has only the 9/16 slot for our next possibly race active counterhit.

This sounds reasonable. It is consistent with the fact that 51$ 33C comes out ahead of 51$ 33E. The opponent's need to run after 51$ is less than after 54D, and (partly because of duplication) 54D 33C 52R leaves far fewer return shots than 51$ 33C 52R.
