Onetime shuffle rule

Don't ruin a great game by imposing strict chess rules to it.I, too, hate, the shuffling of plays when the opponent doesn't accentuate his checkers at top of point. In my chouette, I am forever, reminding the players to accentuate their plays and like the idea of the total reset.I usually "see" a few possibilities to the dice roll, but, like to move the checkers (kinesthetic), as well.I think that the total reset might be a good rule, but,the no shuffling of checkers would hurt an otherwise fun game. Additionally, I agree with Rich that one learns many things about BG by looking at the candidate plays that someone is contemplating. So, don't come down on the Backgammon Shuffle-LOL.
