I think the bloomfield architecture is slightly better for BG programs because of the QPI. Internal position caches cannot reside in the processor cache so there will be memory access. Though i dont know anyone that have tried it on a Lynnfield

Programs do not specificaly take advantage of the QPI: it's there or not (there is no specific assembler instructions).

On Tom's hardware I think the Fritz 11 benchmarks are the closest of what you will get for BG programs.
