I'm not quite sure I understand your reasoning. I believe that a rating is (very loosely) similar to a running average. It doesn't weigh your experience. (I don't know what "TMP" means so maybe I'm misinterpreting your statement.)

If (all) players drop you when they're losing but continue to the end when they're winning, then your ratings only gets updated when you lose (i.e. going down). Certainly some (most?) people play it on the up-and-up. But your rating gets watered down by the selective droppers. Only if they are a very small part of your opponents will the effect be small.

Besides, this was Monty's theory. Blame him if you don't like it. :)
