i7 processor choice question

In Response To: i7 processor choice question (dc-ohio)

even that game is changed today. I got an i7-720 with 4 CPU core + Hypertreading but with 1,6 Ghz (it's a notebook and higher frequencies dry your accu even sooner ). Without any tweaks it increases the speed of a single core up to 2,8 GhZ if the application is single threaded and even 2 Cores if the temperature is o.k. The whole circuit in the Notebook i7 that rules the speed of the CPU is as complex as an 486!! The notebook i7 are very effective fully automatic overclockers. Get them cooled and they overclock!

The absolute speed is not overwhelming (my "old" Q6600 is a little faster) compared to the desktop i7, but as a notebook (and as 15" with 2,6 kg it isn't heavy + Full HD...) it's great!
