MCG -- Ray Match

I was comfy while in front of MCG 6-0, and then the dice started to kinda change sides... I was laughing about the fact that I was actually playing SLOWER than MCG... But I wanted to win that match... It would seal the ABT for me!
As he turned around a couple of positions or just brought home his advantages earning his 5 points... I found myself with just over a minute left.
I was thinking about my cube strategy relative to time in the next game, knowing that 1-0/4 is a conservativity prone score from the leader's standpoint, since his take point on redoubles is like 41% or so. But, umm, when you are in time pressure you can't think of every variable.
My time was winding down when Matt had fanned and it was a blitzy double with a ton of volatility. He had one up and one exposed on my 4 point. I had builders on the 8 and 6 and a blot on my ace as I recall... Knowing it was probably not optimal strategy I doubled... Figuring that I may well be giving him the leverage to redouble me for the match... but if I didn't I was giving him time leverage on the other hand. I knew the redoubles would come early to cancel my gammons or make them meaningless... but I also knew that those redoubles would make THIS the LAST game. As a time dog that seemed appealing because it would largely eliminate his time advantage... so I whipped the early double over.
One of my plays on a subsequent roll took me down to 16 seconds... I probably would have taken the same amount of time had I NOT doubled... So, even though the best match strategy would have been not to double and go for the G... I was not displeased with my decision to double because if I had won a gammon without the cube I would have had to play on auto pilot from there!
Whats worse... if I lost that game and had time pressure too? Double jeopardy.
After my double the best play I could come up with was hitting two checkers loose in my board. Leaving blots on the ace and 4 points, respectively. MCG correctly and expertly redoubled then. I owned my 2, 3, and 6 points and this was the critical roll of the MATCH.
I will leave it to the bgonliners to decipher what old friend I was so glad to see tumble out of MCG's cup! (?)
