Fast-roll tournament ruling?

Obviously, if anyone actually saw the roll, that would be different.

But I did indicate that having the opponent call the player's worst roll would not be out of the question. And as your example points out, "worst roll" could be worse than "no roll".

The more I think about it, the more I like the "worst roll" solution. Granted, it is severe, but the offender has a clear remedy - don't fast roll. And after being hit with such a penalty, they are likely to avoid the bad habit in the future. However, the director would need to consider the pattern of beharior in any appeal. Has fast rolling been silently tolerated all match long and now that the player rolled a joker he is being called on it? Or has the player been consistently warned a few times and did not stop. Like illegal plays, I think it is important to point out occurrences of fast rolling, even if the roll (illegal play) is condoned. Otherwise, the pattern of behavior cannot be established.
