I think someone who grabs the dice because he sees a bad number should be viewed more harshly than someone who grabs the dice because he fast-rolled out of habit and wanted to fix his mistake.

Agreed. In this case, Max and I had reason to believe the offending party may well have been motivated to lift for less than innocent reasons. But there really isn't any way to 'prove' that is there?
