The checker on the 22 point will still be behind my blockade 23/36 of the time after the next shake. When my next turn comes I will likely be ahead around 6 pips. To win the game I need to escape or be a strong favorite to escape the men on the 18 point. There are two ways I can do this: contain his back checker when it does not escape, easily facilitating my escape; roll playable doubles to move them forward when his back checker does escape. (20-2, 8-2) greatly helps me contain his back checker when it does not escape without much cost to my chance of rolling escaping doubles when it does. I will likely be doubling if he does not escape and it will be a pretty even game when he does.
