If that was your thought why didn't you reroll your die at the same time?

Your use of "should be allowed to roll again" has an implication that you have an option. No. It has to either be a legal roll that stands or a non-roll that does not. And I think it should stand, it was still a random outcome. A possible problem could be if there was resulting confusion about whose die was worse but that is not the case here.
