In Response To: XG PR should be the new standard (neilkaz)

Thanks for these tips, Neil. The comparing of errors to XG has been driving me nuts since I got this software and I wasn't aware you could change it by unchecking this little box!

Perry and I have been discussing PR with Xavier and we also believe PR will become the "standard" for comparing play. More study has to be done to see exactly how ER and PR compare, but here is what Xavier sent me (and Perry) on this subject:

Just a quick test about PR vs. ER

Using my online games, I calculated my PR and ER on each individual game (18900 games) PR: 5.87 (standard deviation 6.99) ER: 6.19 (standard deviation 8.32) Average( abs(PR-ER) ) : 1.33 with a deviation of 2.73

The fact that the standard deviation is lower using PR shows it is a more reliable source.

Making the calculation on each overall match (7900 match/session) PR: 5.51 (standard deviation 4.30) ER: 5.30 (standard deviation 4.37)

As expected on longer set of data they get closer. But again the game PR is closer to the match PR
