Misja: "But what exactly does XG mean with 'outplays'? "
Xavier: By default XG compares your play to the play made by the 3-ply (normal search interval). If your choice is better than the 3-ply you are credited with an Outplay and your PR goes down (and your Elo goes up). The main interest of that system is that the analyze result is less dependent of what level of analyze you use.
jdg: "as XG doesn't include forced moves in the calculation, the XG PR should tend to be higher than Snowie w/o outplays"Xavier: But PR includes the number of cube decisions you had during the game. As you can see in Phil's posting on the long run they are actually very close, but PR is a bit less volatile.
To be considered a decision the difference between "No double" and "Double" must be less than 0.200. Actual Doubles are always considered a decision so are Takes/Drop choice.
Phil: "here is what Xavier sent me (and Perry) on this subject"Xavier: Note that in the example I am not comparing Snowie result to XG's, but just the formulae:
- PR=equity/(Player decisions)*500
- ER=equity/(total moves)*1000).
Perry and Phil suggested that I put an example on our web site, I’ll try to do that soon.
