I think the key here is whether or not it was intentional.

If opp throws his die into yours you should be able to keep it or reroll. If he can somehow make the dice bounce from his side of the board to yours and knock your die off a 6 he's the most skilled mechanic I've ever seen. If your dice has already rested on a 6 and he rolls on your side then you keep the 6. Etc...

From the OP it sounds like it was unintentional and nobody knew what the die was yet so I think it stands.
