I don't think that there is any question that transformations in human play resulting from bot guidance starting in the mid-90s has greatly increased the number of gammons achieved in practice.

However, I am personally of the opinion that practically speaking people are not capable of achieving the same results as bots. I believe that bots are particularly skilled at extracting more gammons from positions without giving up too many wins. Or for sure, those humans that can achieve this are far and few between.

I would personally guess that the practical gammon rate for human play is about 25%. Definitely higher than Woolsey, but lower than emerging "perfect play" gammon rates suggest are possible.
