Northwestern/Auburn

Don't know if anyone watched the last plays but Northwestern's kicker went for the tie in overtime with a 30+ yard field goal (remember that in College, they alternate possessions from the opponent's 25 yard line). The kick hit the uprights and Auburn rushed the field thinking they had won. But one of their players had run into the kicker badly injuring his leg. The penalty made it first down, but now Northwestern has only a weak backup kicker for the duration of overtime.

It came to 4th down and they needed a 25 yard kick to tie it. Northwestern faked the kick and the runner was tackled for the loss. I agree with not kicking it because even if the backup kicker makes it, that puts NU at a severe disadvantage on the next possession round. The only question is whether the NU coach should have simply let his starting QB go for it on 4th and about 8.
