Your list of winners does prove that anyone can win, but it does not change the perception (and the reality) that a seeded player has a better chance of cashing than a non-seeded player. And this is what makes people feel like they have a better chance when they have a seeded player on their team.

What your list doesn't show is total people who cash. If the top players represent, say, 1/3 of the field, I would bet that their percentage of cashing, overall, is pretty close to equal to the other 2/3.

Even on your win list, there 7 of the 20 players would probably be seeded depending on the tournament, and at least 3 others might be seeded in a smaller event.
