New Mexico Calcutta

Why consider players to be seeded?
The purpose of the calcutta is to generate interest and jack up the prices for the teams.
I think that instead of performing a public ranking of your perception of the strongest players you should consider alternatives. I like the idea (havent seen it in action yet) for the A + B + xxx or whatever combination of others you have, however, that turns quickly into a public ranking again. Personally, I am not opposed to being treated that way, but the BG players are quite sensitive on the whole (see the endless arguments about the Madison Calcutta last year), and as a part of the tournament process, one of your goals here is to make sure that people have a good time.
I would go with #3 or #1.
