41S-11 question

After you have made your 5pt in the early game, if you have a choice of a single builder on the 6pt or the 5pt, it is better to have the builder on the 6pt, in spite of the fact that your race is one pip worse with the spare on the 6pt. There are many reasons, but I will attempt to explain what I believe is the main reason.
After making your 5pt with a spare on only the 6pt, if you bring another builder onto the 6pt, the distribution can be corrected with an ace on one of the next few rolls. However, after making your 5pt with a spare on only the 5pt, if you bring another builder onto the 5pt, you now have an ugly awkward distribution (with two spares on the 5pt and none on the 6pt) that cannot be corrected with an ace.
The paragraph below is a redundant restatement of the paragraph above.
In particular, sometimes you will roll a 7 or an 8 and need to play it from the 13pt. With the spare on the 6pt, playing the 8 13/5 improves your distribution. With the spare on the 6pt, playing the 7 13/6 gives you two spares on the 6pt, a distribution correctable by rolling an ace. With the spare on the 5pt, playing the 7 13/6 improves your distribution. However, with the spare on the 5pt, playing the 8 13/5 gives you an ugly awkward distribution that cannot be corrected with an ace.
