There are many possible ways of measuring playing ability and winning ability with various degrees of confidence. Anyone is welcome to come up with a new system and implement it as Yamin Yamin did for Giants many years ago.

But Giants is a perfectly valid system as it is - a reflection of the collective opinions of the top players in the game. It does not need replacing. It is what it is and measures what it measures. And the rules are simple and transparent and everyone can understand it and interpret its results in context. That is not to say having alternative ranking systems would not be of value.
