In Response To: Scheduling Problem in Santa Fe (ed olaughlin)

During your match with Larry, did it ever occur to you that the match was taking far too long? Did you ever consider going to the director and requesting a clock?

In retrospect, do you think you did the right thing by not requesting a clock at some point in the match?

Incidentally, when I asked NeilKaz to give me his opinion of the six best Amercian backgammon players, he mentioned you as being the second best. You are a great player and well underrated. You are to be congratulated for your outstanding tournament record thus far this year. You won the tournament in New Jersey, and reached the semifinals of the jackpot events in both New Jersey and Santa Fe. Additionally, your character and integrity are above reproach.

However, I am not sure your judgement was correct when, during the match, you failed to realize the consequences and ramifications of the amount of time your match was taking and you failed to demand a clock.

Admittedly, I do not know all of the facts, but I believe that you should have asked for a clock at some point.
