OT: poker hypothetical

Someone here might recognize this problem. It's from a book and the details you request weren't there. I'll say more after I see if anyone else wants to dig in here.

From my (simple) PoV this is a probability problem. I realize in real life poker it's NEVER just probability, but that's why I used 'hypothetical' in the title.
