Question about time controls

Reserve time for each player is set at two and one-half (2½) minutes per match point, less one and one-quarter (1¼) minutes per point already scored by either player.

Example: if you have an 11-point match and the score is 2-3, you have:
11*2.5 = 27.5 -
5*1.25 = 6.25
= 21.25 minutes.

Another way to do the math is 1.25 minutes per match point remaining to be played, or (11-2) + (11-3) = 9+8 = 17 * 1.25 = 21.25 minutes.

1.25 is used obviously because it is 1/2 of your standard time per point number.
