Not a bad idea, Bill. Mind you, some of my members (those who get to the last 8) have never played with clocks either but they aren't given any more time. I find that when given a clock a lot of players think they don't have enough time and rush things. I always advise them to play at a reasonable pace and take a bit more time over the more complex moves and cube decisions they come to.

I am not a big fan of clocks and preferred it when players played backgammon at a decent pace and didn't treat it like chess! :-)
