After that I might suggest making sure that you aren't getting Windows Updates to install automatically and thus rebooting your computer.

Fly in the idiot from Redmond who made this the DEFAULT for every 21st Century Win OS and put him through a gauntlet of people who have lost rollouts because of this numbnuts feature.

From the current (Feb 2010) issue of PC World article "Greatest Windows Tips of All Time":

press the Windows key and type Windows Update. In the popup window choose change settings. There find a highlighted line with dropdown arrow -- click on that and find the appropriate option (I use "Download Updates but let me choose whether to install them".) When updates are ready, you will get a notification but then YOU choose the time to install them.
