My operating system is windows XP and the computer is a Dell Inspiron 6400 that is 3.5 years old. There is a sticker saying intel centrino on front right corner of keyboard and also one that says designed for windows XP, windows vista compatible.

The overheating hypothesis may be on to something. I think I've noticed that the fan has been on when these shutdowns occurred. But if that is the main cause I wonder i) Why does it not also do it for gnu rollouts, (even if two at once). Does XG crank the computer more strongly? ii) I always thought there would just be a slowdown rather than a total crash, is that thought incorrect? iii) Why would it mess up the cookies?
