Clock concerns - Rules for Clocks.

Clearly, if clocks are to be used, a new set of rules should be incorporated that addresses issues uniquely related to the clock. For example, in Pittsburgh, I inadvertently hit my clock when I was on the bar against a closed board and the six point opened up. I basically forfeited my turn. Foolishly, I did not ask for a ruling. Upon reflection, I don't feel a player should forfeit his turn in that situation because it is an artifiacial quirk created by the imposition of the clock that clearly could not have occurred had a clock not been in play. I'm sure there are many other oddities created by clock play as well. The USBGF, ABT, WBT or whatever governing body create the rules of tournament backgammon clearly must revise the rules of backgammon to address these situations. Any opinions?
