Clock concerns - your thoughts please.

You are just going to have to play some clocked matches and then I'm sure you realize that the 2/12 time limits are perfectly adequate. You should be able to shake and roll your dice in 3-4 seconds, so you have 8 more seconds before you use any of your reserve time. And remember that you are SUPPOSED to use up a good amount of your reserve time; that is what it is there for.
My main advice for players new to clocks is to move your obvious plays within the 12 second delay, and you will have plenty of think time for the hard stuff. Even stopping to do a ME calculation or a pip count isn't a problem.
I played 12 clocked matches in Pittsburgh and I can't recall any of them where either player used much more than 12 minutes of reserve time (9 and 11 point matches).
