I was on appeal committee-rest of the story

Steve: "It's one thing to ask the director for a ruling in a spate of honest confusion, but quite another to insist that the director is wrong and escalate it to the next level. In my line of work the player would be sanctioned for taking a frivolous appeal."
Barry: "As the incident was related to me, the director ruled in favor of player B, the "fucktard" in Stick's opinion, presumably using the 'illegal move' argument as the basis for the decision. However, an appeals committee was convened and unanimously ruled in favor of player A."
I agree with Steve - if the director had ruled the redoubled cube was on 4 and player B - the confused/uneducated Novice - had appealed post-education by the director, they would indeed be a "fucktard" and should be slapped around a bit.
However, Barry's comment indicates that this is not what happened. That the director had actually ruled the redoubled cube should stay at 2 and that it was the more knowledgeable player A that (correctly) appealed this decision.
So Bill - what was the director's ruling, and who requested the appeal?
