Touch moves

I think this is worth considering. I see the main issue as losing track of the original position while trying out various moves. In chess that would be much less of an issue, however there touch/move is rigorously enforced everywhere and virtually never questioned by anybody. When I started playing competitive backgammon a couple of years ago after 20 years of competitive chess, I was very surprised that touch/move was not part of the rules. The details of a BG touch/move rule would obviously need careful consideration - it couldn't be as simple as the chess rule.
