Touch moves

Personally, I would be in favor of this (with the panels and pip count turned "Off", of course), as I feel the pros significantly outweigh the cons:

Pros - no illegal moves (you can shuffle as much as you want), no dice roll disputes, no opponent noisily shaking the dice while you're thinking, no premature rolling, no cocked dice, faster match times (as the few seconds per turn that is required to shake the dice is eliminated... this adds up over the length of the match), still easy to implement clocks for timely match completion, and most importantly NO HAVING TO WASTE TIME ENTERING THE MATCH IN MANUALLY FOR LATER ANALYSIS AND STUDY!

Cons - renders my expensive backgammon board useless, no enjoyment of the sights, sounds, and the actual physical handling of the pieces/cube (the room would be WAY too quite!).

The potential for cheating, I feel, is very slim in either case, and is a neutral factor. If that is a concern, simply do "manual dice", and roll on an open board off to the side... it's easy once you get the hang of it.
