I have only skimmed all of the responses so if I missed something, sue me.
I don't see it as clear cut as 'roll stands' as it seems everyone else does. I also don't agree that what was rolled makes zero difference. In theory and how the rules should be written of course it doesn't matter whether the person tossed a 1 or a 6 but since it's not yet included specifically in the rules I would at least give a passing thought as to what was rolled. (it becomes pretty clear Player B isn't taking a shot if Player A's roll was an ace for example)
By blindly stating "roll stands" you open up the situation of a player taking a shot in the same manner. He tosses his opponent a die and 'rolls'. If it lands on something he doesn't like he scoops up the die and says in passing he didn't mean to roll, he was trying to give you a die. If it's something he likes then he lets it stand. This is the issue I have with it.
As a couple of people mentioned, what should happen in one form or another when using one set of dice if one player has both dice is they are placed on the opposite side of the board (where that person's roll would not count anyway) and wait for his opponent to select a die and then he takes the other one. I'm also ok with just giving the opponent a die on the opposite side of the board where placing it with your hand takes preference over rolling it, but that's not a big deal.
