2-stage baffle box?

In Response To: 2-stage baffle box? (Tom Keith)

Why can't the inside of the baffle box have lips just like cups to ensure the dice bounce rather than slide? Or I'd think several ramps surfaced with a grippy rubber-like substance covered with round pimples in a hex pattern (like an inverted golf ball but much larger bumps) would make it all but impossible to control the dice by hand.
