I have a question that I forgot to ask...how did your opponent end up with those gaps in the home board in the first place? Were they forced by bad dice or did he voluntarily bury checkers to the ace point instead of clearing from the rear? Surely those gaps can't be good even though the 3-prime partially blocks your checkers from getting out and around? Or is it sometimes a legitimate strategy not to clear from the rear if the backgamer is on the verge of crunching and you want to help him along by forcing him to play large numbers up front rather than by abandoning an anchor?
