Are Advanced Round Entries Fair?

Buying 16 spots and going straight to the finals could be considered the same as buying 16 random spots and having them all be randomly drawn into the bottom half of the bracket. Superstar is disadvantaged by this particular random draw, because of all of his pre-final matches are against himself.

The best result for Superstar is to buy 16 spots and not get paired against himself in any first round match, since he is a favorite against everybody.

The really bad thing for Mr. Average is that Superstar has 16 entries. If you're asking what's "fair" or equitable for Mr. Average, he wants the other 31 competitors to not be Superstar, but be my two dogs, a timid 7-year old, my sweet grandma and other like-skilled players.
