Hmmm ... how about: When the play that is safest for the next roll also takes off more checkers, that play is probably right?

I count 4/off(2) giving Blue one fewer shot-leaving number next turn, assuming White still owns the 24 point.

"When in doubt, rip 'em off" has more flair.
