Cubeless backgammon

There are other situations that lead to this.
i) Suppose the choice of a disengaging racing play and a keeping a checker back for a lethal shot with a closed board play are close cubeless. If you have the cube then the racing play will do better.
ii) The converse of your situation can also occur. Suppose plays A and B are close cubeless and both would leave you a dog but with a trivially easy take. If your opponent has cube access and play A gives your opponent some super jokers then play A will do better cubeful.
