We'll probably just have to agree to disagree on this point, but for what it's worth, I did a calculation where I watched the number of zeros a little more carefully than you did here. I grant that my numbers represent an extreme case and I don't believe that any effect of this sort is going to tell us that, say, 6/5 6/4 is the right way to play an opening 2-1, but it's enough to make me be cautious about the standard error-cancellation argument.
