Congratulations to the Gammonzone team for reaching the finals and very nearly squashing the Executioners team like a bug.
For those not following the event, this was most exciting. The Gammonzone team had won the first 3 series, leading 3-0 in the best 4/7 set.
The fourth best of 3 series which I was playing was tied up 1-1 and the third set went to DMP. Coasting to victory in the final game, I left a shot with 7 men off and was hit facing my opponent's full prime. I eventually danced in the position shown below in which an XG Rollout shows my winning chances dipping to 19.7%. My opponent missed and failed to cover. I then entered with 13 to clean up the mess. He closed me out and managed to bear off all 3 spares before opening his board; I was 27.7% to win at this point according to XGR+. But win I did - game, set, match. 1-3
While I've lost the details, I recall that Chris Yep had an equally suspenseful series going to 3 matches with DMP excitement, but prevailed to narrow the gap to 2-3.
Saving our best for last, MCG and Stick came through to complete the improbable comeback and finish this very exciting series.
Thanks to all teams and all players that combined to make the Tandem series a fun event to play and watch.
