Paul's post in this thread reminds me to mention that...
A big reason (and I often see it missed by analysts) that it is better to slot the 5pt after Opp runs with 65 (as opposed to the opening position) is precisely because of 41: Opp can't play U (Up, 24/20* 24/23); assuming she hits she must leave an offensive blot with the ace. (To be clear, I'm comparing 65R-21, 65R-41 and 64R-51, to opening 21, 41 and 51, respectively.)
A roll earlier, a similar theme exists in support of opening 64P, which blocks Opp's otherwise-best replies with 51 and 41. However, with 65R-xx$-41, there will be a blot entering from the roof, translating to more shots in the very area of the board Opp must play anyway and therefore the blow dealt to 41 is substantially greater.
