Much better for filenames--are you even allowed to call a file "-5-7Recube"?
Yes, you can name a file simply -5-7 if you like and it will show up at the end of the 5's files.
it's very easy to say "5 away 7 away" when the page says 5a7a.
I think it depends on the individual. Myself for example I use the -X-X format all the time so there is no thought or translation involved. Whatever one adapts one will become competent in translating without reflection.
