Assuming these really are 95% confidence intervals, the consistency between the 1296 rollout and the 10k rollout is 3.2 j.s.d. If you repeated this experiment a huge number if times, that should happen about once every 700 trials.

3 j.s.d. would pique a scientist's interest enough to investigate further (assuming the result had some importance, which is usually the case or why was s/he doing the experiment in the first place? :).
