In chess only 2 or 3 people could do it.
In bridge very few could do it.
In backgammon probably 300-500 people or more have the skill to have a realistic shot if they were to enter."
Especially for backgammon and I think even mores so for poker there is a big difference between being world champion and being the best player. Your example could just be showing there is more of a random element to backgammon which is not the same as it lacking complexity.
