Chess vs. backgammon

I find it interesting that you consider the 14:8 level ratio of chess vs. backgammon too high. It might depend on what you classify as a total beginner, but let me, for sake of discussion, shift the focus to the top of the level system.
In chess, one level seems to correspond to ~200 Elo points. Someone two levels behind top world class would be close to 2400 Elo points. This would be someone who I'd classify as a probably quite dedicated, somewhat talented player with typically many years of experience. I would be very happy to have someone like him as a trainer in a local club.
In backgammon, someone only one level behind top world class I think would be typically around 7 in Snowie ER terms. Totally mediocre.
Do you disagree with any of the above? Is it relevant?
