Using hyperpips to determine winning %

White's side has much more volatility than usual. That greater volatility is an advantage to the trailer of a race.
Could you elaborate on this? I understand that Kleinman's hyperpips give an average of pips that are wasted by being on the bar; White may enter on the next roll or five rolls from now, so that generates extra volatility. But that seems to disadvantage White as often as it favors him. He is a dog to come in on any specific roll. I'm sort of concluding, as Casper did, that hyperpips, while interesting, just aren't that helpful. Or maybe your elaboration will convince me otherwise.
