Nice position, Neil.

Although your rollouts of the cube action have sort of rendered the following question moot, I was going to ask Daniel for more explanation of his hypothesis about the effect of the cube. I would have expected that, if the cube were highly relevant here, it would be because 13/4* would provoke an inefficient cube. That is, to confirm that 13/4* is better, we might try to confirm that Black must cube after 13/4* but need not cube after 22/13. However, Daniel's intuition about the cube was the other way around.

Apparently neither scenario is correct in this particular position, but perhaps by changing the position slightly, one could get Black to cube after one move and not the other.
