Chuck Bower wrote an excellent article for Chicago Point about 10 years ago that convincingly argued that, unless the gammon rate for a position is significantly below average from the starting position, it is virtually never right for the leader to double at this match score.

I did? Yikes, my memory is even worse than I thought. I don't remember ever writing an article for the Chicago Point Newsletter. (Flint and Indy, yes.) Thanks for the compliment, regardless (even if it was some other author :).

BTW, glad to see you posting more here. I for one can gain a lot from your insight. And congratulations on yet another fine tournament performance.
