Sounds like something I could have said. (Sounds like something many others could have said, too.) I guess it really doesn't matter who said it, in the end. Maybe I just feel guilty with the possibility of getting credit for something I didn't say (and, more significantly, taking credit for something someone else actually said). Recently Butch Meese created a CD of articles from most of the Hoosier Backgammon Club Newsletters he edited over ~25 years. I was surpized by how many articles I actually wrote there. (Mary chronicled the CD on GammonVillage.) So it wouldn't surprise me if I really did say what you've given me credit for. The sad part might be that when I saw this position I didn't think of the aspect you actually based your analysis upon, whether I said it or not.
