I agree with Bob that stories like this are more satisfying if the actual position is provided so that one can be confident that alleged misplays really are misplays.

On the other hand, I also agree with Bill that I've encountered players who say things like, "I don't need to pick up a second checker to win." I don't think I've ever had that kind of mindset even when I sucked even worse than I do now, but it appears to be a rather common way of thinking.

Always look for the best play and don't settle for less. The good is the enemy of the best.
