What's a pip worth?

When racing, to have 13 checkers in the home board with 2 outside on the 7 and 8 is much weaker than to have 14 checkers in the home board with one outside on the 7 or 8. I think that is the lesson I would take away from your post. I think it is very hard to quantify this effect though.
